Holistic Menopause Support

This service is new and is provided by Val Richards (from 26/8/22).

It’s intended to support, help and inform females who are approaching menopause, going through menopause, or at the end stages of menopause.

It provides an opportunity to talk about the things that may be concerning you and how menopause is affecting you personally. This could include mood swings, fluctuating energy levels, hot and cold flushes, sleeping patterns, sexual desire, sexual performance, pain during intercourse, and irregular or prolonged periods. Val will offer empathic listening and may share her thoughts on lifestyle, supplementation, and how to make changes that keep sex enjoyable and doable, rather than you trying to avoid your partners advances. However, she will not take on the role of a medic or give specific advice in areas that she feels are best served by your local GP.

As well as completing a short course on supporting women in menopause, Val will also draw from her own personal experience, the experiences of others, and her own research.

We feel this is a fantastic opportunity for women who feel isolated or confused during this time in life, as traditionally this has been a taboo subject, and one in which even the medical profession are not always up to speed with. Anecdotal evidence shows inconsistent levels of understanding amongst the medical profession, with some female patients claiming it took several visits to different GPs before they finally got the treatment they needed. Other women simply want someone to talk to and gain some tips and reassurance that they aren’t alone in what they’re experiencing.

Initially, as this is new, Val is offering this service completely free of charge until further notice. Consultations can last up to an hour and can be provided in person, on the phone, or by Zoom/Skype. However, if you can, we would always recommend you come in person to our therapy room in Runcorn, Cheshire.
